happy slapping

I've been blog-slapped. I had no idea that there was such a thing. But I'm taking it as red (or perhaps that should be read?) as it came from on high: the wonderful Tim, Preston's most famous free man (http://afreemaninpreston.blogspot.com). 

I am delighted to have been asked. I think.

Luckily, for me, blogslapping is not as violent as it sounds. All I need to do is find page 123 of the nearest book and copy down sentences 6, 7 and 8 for our collective bemusement. So here goes:

"If there'd been a site that advertised 'Old-Fashioned British Brides (but not like your mother)' he might have signed up but there wasn't, so first he looked at the Thai brides ('petite, sexy, attentive, affectionate, compliant') but the very idea had seemed so sleazy.  He'd seen one a couple of  months before, in John Lewis - an ugly, overweight middle-aged man and on his arm this beautiful, tiny girl, smiling and laughing at him as if he was some kind of god. People looking at them, knowing."

Hmm, this was taken from Kate Atkinson's One Good Turn and reminds me of the depressing five hours I once spent in Manila airport waiting for a connecting flight...

Now I am supposed to ask others to do the same. Put simply, I'm not sure if other bloggers read this but I'll give it a go. The two bloggers I will attempt to slap entertain me no end:
